Migrating to Shopify is not simply a product import. A mature commerce store contains years of product data, customers, order history, URLs, content, integrations and operational rules.

1. Audit the current commerce stack

6. Configure payments, shipping and integrations

Payments, carriers, ERP, OMS, accounting, marketplaces and warehouse systems should be designed around clear data ownership.

For each field and event, decide which system is the source of truth, what triggers synchronization and how failures will be handled.

7. Test real customer journeys

Do not test only pages. Test end-to-end scenarios: browse a product, select variants, add to cart, apply discounts, complete payment, send the order to downstream systems, create fulfillment and confirm notifications.

Repeat critical scenarios on mobile and across relevant markets.

8. Plan DNS and go-live

Prepare domain changes before launch. Review DNS, SSL, www behavior, email-related records and redirects. A controlled cutover reduces avoidable downtime.

9. Treat the first days as stabilization

Launch is not the end of migration. Monitor orders, payments, inventory, integrations, 404s and customer behavior closely. Unexpected edge cases usually appear only when real traffic reaches the new system.
